Does that mean you can't delay the attack/start any more with pad velocity?
That's a shame. I thought I was just not able to find the function yet. Does anybody know the workaround for this?

looks that way - like nym says you can control it from Qlink - but the velocity feature has been removed - not to say jj wont put it back - but probably unlikely.

the workaround is

[mode] + PAD1 slider
set Q1 to NOTE on
set PARAMETER to Sample Start

to be honest, this is much better, as you can set the start time at any point on the fly for any pad, then take it off immediately - which is much more expressive. the drawback is it takes up a Q slider - unless you are quick at changing them.

thanks very much for that!
sounds promising, guess I need to experiment...

i was excited when i heard about the new JJ OS, but i dont really care much for the inst program thing. I own a sample that sounds better than the mpc, plus the filters are still weak for inst programs. Im curious what the new OS will have once its out of beta.

To me, the OS2 is already stable enough. Never had it crash and the workflow has increased a LOT of the os1. Just remember to save every now and then so you wont loose much if it crashes, remember how often the akai os2 used to crash. haha, and this JJ2 isn't even on a beta-level

I can't even imagine how buggyfull the new 5000 will be with those new things that most of them JJ has already added to the 1K.

It's a gooda, good additions esp. non-destruc chop on/off love that section.I agree a bit early to give a thorough review but looking very promising. I still think how wickard it is that this is so heavily supported albeit for a fee

I love JJ os2, and I think it's an absolute steal for this price. I'd buy it right now, beta or not.
The inst program is a real life saver for me, it allows me to take some sounds with me without lugging too much gear around. Also, the filter sounds sooo much better to my ears. And I love the new workflow.

But I suppose it's horses for courses.

For me, it's a winner.

And don't forget, for 60-70€ (or $ for the people on the other side of the pond), you get grid edit, bit convert, instrument sampler functionality, and a better workflow...can't find that anywhere else.

I cosign that. If carrying gear was no problem I would just take my 60 and s950 everywhere.

If you don't have a car like me and live in city with congested public transport the 1000 with OS2 is a real godsend.

I feel a bit fooled with 4.xx in the end.

Some main final fixes (mainly the - somehow wasted - sampler usability: sample assign to keyzones and usable MIDI-in functions) in OS 4.9x should have been done in the first place, before releasing a different 2.0 version.

i think - the problem is, that there is just was no more space for new features in OS1 due to the flash limit -
that's not to say that jj couldn't have made a boot loader that puts OS1 into the internal flash ram instead of OS2 and continued. -
but you shouldn't feel fooled we can't expect jj to work for zilch.
after all people gotta eat.
and were getting good value for little money

We've been bamboozled.

I fuking hate it right now.

As much money as OS1 has helped me make, OS2 has cost me thousands of dollars and two weeks worth of work because it decided to take a memory dump in mid play wth me just sitting back and smokin a blunt. I'd feel better if I at least did something to fuk it up

and I'm sorry but some of yall are retarded. all acting like JJ gotta eat... dorky ass kids.

ppl were buying os1 hand over fist. lots of my industry boys had just picked it up, was getting in magazines, ppl joining the forum every day. I got plenty of money, it aint even that, but really dont think for an instant that hes begging for change at the gas station.

the amount of ppl who WONT buy now because of 70$ pricepoint is gonna cost him more in the long run. its basic business... doesnt seem like that because there are 20 vocal supporters on here but the fact is, message board junkies aren't the ppl spending all the money, were considered a fanatic minority and u fortunately for JJ he doesnt see the bigger picture.
...
now he's really showing us that he works for akai LOL

long run = less money, I guarantee it as an economics major

listen groupie... it was playing for five minutes while I was rolling. unless os2 is allergic to trainwreck and he there's an 'across the room weed bug' then, no, I'm not to blame.

you could argue that I shoulda got a passcode sooner but I'm glad I didn't out of principle. and I won't be. all these extra features are retarded... I have a full studio so adsrs for instrument channels is the least exciting thing for me... I'm not trying to play riffs on anything except an 88 weighted hammer key yafeelme?
