I just switched up from the 2000xl to the 2500. I threw the JJ OS1 on it straight away and that solved some huge issues I've historically had with mpc's (being able to pitch entire programs up at once as opposed to sample by sample... same with the filter, that'll save an hour a day). I'm also loving the compressor over the mix, makes it easy to keep things in control while you're trying to rough stuff out. Also, the one I bought was off an ebay auction that listed it without mentioning any upgrades so I was real pleased to find out it has 128mb of RAM and an 80gb hard drive installed, which i doubt the store that sold it even knew.

Overall I'm really pleased with it for the most part right now but the one thing I'm pretty bummed about is the god awful wheel on this thing. It sounds like when you were a kid and would stuff cards into your bicycle spokes. It also feels like crap and it seems that once inawhile it misses a tick. One of the things I loved about the 2000xl wheel was that you could twirl it real hard and it would spin on it's own for a little bit. If there is any sort of mod coming for this thing it has got to be a replacement for this p.o.s. wheel.

The other thing that's managed to annoy me as well is that the erase and note repeat buttons are right where i rest my left palm when I'm playing and that's tripped me up a few times as I try to figure out why there's an erase screen up all of the sudden.

Anyways. I look forward to participating in this community. Peace

We've had a ton of complaints about the tickey wheel. Get used to it.. it's not changin'. And as far as the erase and note repeat buttons... learn to put your palm someplace else. Those buttons aren't moving either. Other than that... welcome to the 2500 fam! 8)

In all honestly I might just disconnect the buttons. The thing that irritates me about them is that I never use erase or note repeat. It also wouldn't be too difficult to make it a requirement for something like.. you have to have hit the mode button before you press them to make them work.
