HOW DO YOU CHANGE A SAMPLE TEMPO WITH OUT CHANGING THE PITCH

Is there some type of equation out there that would allow me to change the tempo of a sample with out changing the actual pitch or tone?

From your profile I see you have an XL - then you can use TIMESTRETCH - check the manual.

You should use ACID 4.0. You can change the tone without stretching the pitch. Then from there....Sample it into your mpc

i hate time stretching on the mpc, i can never get it right, either it sounds all distorted or its not really longer than before.

You're probaby over-using it. You can't do huge tempo changes with timestretch or it sounds like crap. Depending on the type of sample, you can really only adjust the tempo by a max of 5-10bpms before the sound gets so degraded that it becomes unuseable.

Yeah Decept is right. Get an outside helper software to do this for you. Much cleaner sound.

Well I figure you're goin for a clean Timestretch, but don't be afraid to experiment with drastic timestretching too... I know I got this one Ozzy Osbourne guitar sample that I timestretched from 128 to 76 BPM... It actually created this really odd sound that sounded really good once I got through doing a little bit of mixing on it... It left these distorted gaps in the sound that made the sound sorta have an overcompressed feel to it... Anyways never be afraid to experiment with timestrecthing (This was all done on the MPC by the way)
