Is there any way to switch to a new track and continue recording all in the same take in OS 2 like you could in OS 1. I found it usefull sometimes after I was done recording a certain part to just change track # and keep on recording instead of stopping, changing track # and start recording again. In OS 1, if I already had my sounds picked out and had an idea of what I wanted to do, it would be a lot faster to lay it out all at once. Is there a way to enable this feature again? Thanks

co sign, we should send it to the bug report don't you think that's a really annoying thing (to me)

Yeah this is killing me, im assuming he did it because of the audio tracks being available anywhere now. hopefully he can fix it so that you just cant move to, or make a new audio track while its recording. Its really annoying in a live situation.

Yeah, I think this is a bug that need to be fixed. This along with other features was something that I really liked when I switched from a motif es to my 1K for sequencing and sampling. I just felt more loose/free to work, less restricted. They need to bring this back, it helped my workflow. On a side note, I was also hoping that we would get a "strength" feature added to the timing correction. This way when you quanitize you can choose the strenght 0% to 100%, 0 being no timing correction at all and 100% being right on the grid. It'll help tighten things up a little without killing whole feel of the groove, sometimes i just need a little correction and don't like having to replay the whole thing again, manually shifting notes, or quanitizing the hell out of it. Maybe next update.

well,i just hit OVERDUB, then switch tracks, then hit OVERDUB again...works ok like that...i guess ;)

i totally agree about the quantize strength option...

That does not work. When you hit OVERDUB while overdubbing to take it off of overdub mode, you can then change tracks but when you hit OVERDUB again it won't stay on. The only way to change tracks while overdubbing is to press stop and start overdubbing again which annoyingly interrupts the workflow.

It seems like there's really no way to change tracks while overdubbing in OS 2 which makes it nearly useless to me. Too bad as I like a lot of the new features like the Active mode in Track mute. :(

How would the audio tracks being available anywhere affect this? There's gotta be an explanation for omitting such a crucial feature that has been an essential feature of MPC sequencers.

nope, no way around this - hit stop and then play. build it into the timing of your beat if you must - it's the nature of the beast. the "why" as i understand it is a complex reason that is both difficult to translate A, from japanese to english and B, from a programming perspective to a user's perspective.

it's little to give for such a boost in sequencing/sampling capability. this os/the mpc in general is foremost a compositional tool/live-playable instrument. in today's spectrum of tools available, recordable loop based live work is far, far, far far better suited to a combination midi controller+ableton live - mid-record track switching or no.

aside from this, quantize strength by percentage (or "degree") is a HUGE must as far as sequencing goes. quantize strength is #2 on my personal jjos2 feature request list

it's not a matter of something being added or removed, it's a matter of the architecture of the code itself. for example/comparison, a former limitation was that in order to edit an event, OVERDUB had to be on. similarly, the "why" behind that is a foundation level code thing, beyond my understanding/capability of explanation.

basically, there are other seemingly unrelated bits of how OS2 functions that are apparently dependent the way it is now. i have a couple inferences as to what, but those don't really matter. i am constantly hitting the stop button, scrubbing backwards, hitting play, rerecording, stopping, skipping ahead, playing, stopping, so this change never bothered me.

in my first session with os2, i was more surprised when i couldn't change seqs while recording, but that surprise lasted maybe 2 or 3 times, and then i just figured out another way to do the same thing. my issue here was mainly with long qlink sweeps and pickups - now i just use irregular sequence lengths and qreal position holders.
