zip files to compact flash

What's up peaple? Was hoping to get a quick step by step on how to connect a zip drive and card reader together and copy all the files over to cf cards. 3000le w/3.50 Thanks

Thanks 714 . Useful info -not step by step but useful. Which device to hook to mpc first and which last in daisy chain? What device numbers to use? What commands to hit on mpc? Thanks

Use the Zip Hooked up to the MPC then the Card reader hooked up to the Zip drive as far as the SCSI ID's not sure but I think you need to have them on the same SCSI ID. On the MPC you just do Hard Disk Copy if you have OS 3.50

From Rohan's other reply it seems they need to be set to differen't i.d. numbers. Just doing some research before i try it. My mpc will be back from vst tomorrow - 3.50 chips and card reader are sitting here patiently waiting! Don't want to lose my drum kits i have on zips. Can't wait to see it for the first time with the backlight working+black pads!!!!!

The SCSI copier is quite simple to operate.

In your instance DEEGOOD.

0: Power off to all devices.

1: Card reader first in the chain, set to an ID that is different from your ZIP drive.
[0], [1], [2], [3] or [4]

2: Termination on Card reader to disable.

3: ZIP last in the chain, set to an ID that is different from your Card Reader. [5] or [6]

4: Termination on Zip drive to enable.

5: Connect all devices with power OFF.

6: Power on Card reader first.

7: Apply power to ZIP drive second.

8: Power on the MPC3000.

9: Make SCSI ACTIVE screen.

"SCSI Multi Sector Transfer Mode == OFF"

To ensure compatibility with your Card Reader and to allow reliable reading of your ZIP.

10: Make SCSI ACTIVE screen.


Make active the SCSI ID you wish to use as the SOURCE during copying.

11: In the SCSI copier screen.

If not set already...
...Set the SOURCE to be the same as your SCSI ZIP ID. [5] or [6]

Set the TARGET to be the same as your Card Reader ID. [0], [1], [2], [3] or [4].

12: Start the copier.

13: The copy process will take a while.

Copying from SOURCE to TARGET the data of each device.

Sector, by sector, by sector.

Do it over night when you're not using your MPC3000 for beat making.

14: Revise these notes or you may end up copying a blank disk over you data.

Still can't get the card reader to be recognized. The zip works fine. Don't have the cables to make the card reader first in the chain. I'm going to trouble shoot the card reader later.

No.

You need to get another cable.

MPC3000 with broken SCSI fuse <|---SCSI CABLE ---|> SPYRUS which relies on the termination power from the MPC300 actually being supplied <|---SCSI CABLE ---|>ZIP SENDING TERMINATION POWER BACK TO THE BUS AS AN END OF LINE DEVICE making up for the lack of termination power feed from the MPC3000 and allowing the middle of chain device ( SPYRUS ) to work correctly.

ok thanks-JD at scsisamplers is sending me the mcdisk2 which he says fixed the problem the mcdisk1 had. I'll probably just start fresh since i really don't have alot samples on zip anyway.
