MPC AND A TURNTAB;E

if i were to hook up my turntable to the pmc record in would i be able to hear the record playing through the main out of the mpc also or would i need a mixer my turntable(stanton) has only one out for sound i think so would i need a mixer and how would i hook it up ?

you could hear somthing but the sound and the sound quality would suck... it would sound really low. Youre better off going through a mixer so it is amplified and so you can eq it and stuff

what if u send it thru a regular 12 channel mixer and not a specific dj mixer
cause i got a mackie dfx 12, gonna buy a turntable but no mixer

if it has phono in then yes

Check the specs and manual for your turntable... if the outputs says "phono", you need a preamp or mixer with phono inputs. If it says "line", you can go direct to line-level systems like the MPCs. We don't know what you have, Stanton makes different models with different specs...

~Stanton str-100 u dont need a preamp it has line! Anythin lower then the Stanton str-100 u will need a preamp or a dj mixer!

~Stanton str-100 run about $299.99 online and the lowest Stanton is a Stanton str8-20 [which is a belt drive] is about $100!

I got my STR8 100 for 200 from ebay.

It also doesn't need a ground and has a line in 1/8" jack so you can hook up another sample source without disconnecting the tt.

Most good Dj mixers have a phono/ line switch that you can flip and that should work. If not head over to radio shack and buy a turntable preamp. I prefer to have my turntables set up so I can still scratch and not have to power the MPC on just to hear them. I plug the main out of my Dj mixer into a channel on my mixing board. Works fine.

In case you were woundering I have Vestax PDX 2000 turntables and a Vestax 07Pro mixer. I have used stantons before their mixers have that switch I spoke of above.... Good Luck!

~I just got my new table the Stanton str8-80 in from american musical! I will give it a test run in a few!

im still not sure about my question what i meant was if i hook up my turntable(mixer) i have the stanton str8-20 beltdrive using the mixer out to record in of mpc then i have the main out goin to my radio aux in would i be able to hear the music from my recors on my radio??

If I understand your question correctly, the answer would be No....but does your mixer have a set of aux outs or tape outs or a zone out section? THAT would work fine...

Oh yeah......if you actually have more pieces of gear than the MPC, a mixer is a great idea. Here's a tip, though....don't go and buy a 4 channel mixer if you think you'll be expanding your setup (and you will, no doubt, as time goes on). Try to get a 12 channel mixer if you can. The Mackie 1202 is really pretty damn nice, and a good recommended mixer that's not TOO pricey and sounds really transparent.
