HIGH NOISE out of my 3000

There is a very HIGH tone in that machine ,..and putting on HEADPHONES is impossible (I hope it's not a mouse or something like that) ( a dolphin...)
Anyway ,....What could it be...I have put that little button on the back at MID ,...instead of HIGH or LOW ,..so that couldn't be the problem ,..or is it?

LCD BACK LIGHT INVERTER noise leaking into the audio signal path.

Depress the contrast button until it clicks, turning the LCD BACK LIGHT "OFF" or "ON" as the case may be.

In the LCD BACK LIGHT "OFF" position does the hi pitched whine go away ?

Also ......

SCSI bus noise leaking into the audio signal path during load/save operations.

In this case ...... hi grade SCSI cables can help solve this aspect of the problem.

I got the clicking part of that button (thanks btw never knew ...you can press it!)

yeah I had the same problem
I turned off the backlight and everything went away
but one problem I cant get rid of is my backlight
i changed the foil and it looks the same as it always did
could it be somehting else?
its happened on both my 3ooo and my 3oooLE

This post came up at the perfect time. I just noticed that I had to turn up my contrast a little to see the screen better and was being bugged by a quiet but noticable high pitched tone on my headphones in the background during playback. I haven´t tried the main or sub outs yet to see if it´s noticable here as well.

Do I have to change the LCD now? It was supposed to have been changed a while ago? I guess I could just turn off the background light during recording right?

Is this hum usually on all the outs? I can´t check that right now...

I have the same two problems now!

So...

Is there a way to fix this leaking inverter noise? Because now that I finally have a new backlight I would like to use it... Replacing the inverter?

The noise is loud in the headphones, but it's pretty loud right out of the box too (with no speakers or nothing connected).

I may try to buy a "hi grade" SCSI cable then, because the card reader is mad noisy when operating.
But, what exactly is a such "high grade" cable? I have a standard grey flat one.

Do you know how these round SCSI ones are working? Maybe better isolated? But they seem som heavy, so maybe they will damage something if it is laying loose in the MP while moving it?



But the card-reader noise issue is not as important as the baclight. Saving and loading is not performed often with the very stable bug-free 3000, but the backlight is on the whole session!

The drive itself is super quiet.

But it leaks into the headphone output in some way.

Just got back a mail from VST saying:
"Yes we do have the inverters in stock for $33.54"

So I think I will go with that.

Anyone knows how to install it? Write me a short guide about it?
Or shall I just leave it up to a service-sentre?

Hello, I just changed the foil on my 3k and am now hearing the high pitched whine that is driving me nuts. Is this a resonating foil or inverter? Anyone have a solution?

I have the same thing - but what is odd is that I am not using any SCSI devices - just good old floppy disks.

Also - when I move the floppy drive unit (inside the casing a little bit) the noise usually stops...

If the internal drive is not secured down, it can cause the noise issue .

There was a thread about this and oldgearguy had a solution for remedying the issue:

quick question, although i dont get any high pitched noise through my headphones, is it quite normal for my MPC to make a whirring/whining noise when its powered on?

also when i powered my MPC up today i got a System_Err_ appear? I just powered it off and powered it back on and it fired up straight away, has anyone experienced this problem before? I'm running an mpc 60 mk2 os 2.12.
