How do you get a blank memory....Absolutly no original internal sounds on the sequence?
You can't do that (according to MPC-Tutor and his books). But you can do the following:
1. Create a new (blank) program and name it as you please.
2. Load a kick drum (or whatever) sample of your choice and assign it on a pad in your new program.
3. Delete all factory programs and sequences from memory.
4. In program mode, find a Purge function and press "Do it": this automatically erases all unused samples in MPC's memory.
5. Go to save mode (pressing Mode + pad 3) and choose Save to: Internal, then below choose All Pgms&Samples and then Do It. After some warnings about clearing up internal memory, press Rec button and wait for the system to clear up the internal sample and program memory and write down your only program and sample into it. After the operation finishes, go to Save mode again, choose Save to: Internal and choose All Seqs&Songs, then press Do It and Rec. That clears up factory sequences and songs.
6. There's also an autoload function to consider. Choose Autoload:Internal to avoid loading factory sounds from the CF card every time you switch MPC on. You can also choose Autoload: Off, so that there will be absolutely nothing loaded into MPC's memory when you switch it on.
Don't switch off the power while the MPC writes in internal memory, as it could damage the OS and make the device inoperable.
By the way, the factory samples and sequences are by default stored in INTERNAL folder on the CF card that comes with your MPC.
