loading/reading .all files from 2000xl in 1000?

loading/reading .all files from 2000xl in 1000?

wassup ya'll

i'm archiving my old 2000xl files and was trying to play them on my 1000.

looks like the snd files are converted to wav by the 1000 automatically, however i can't seem to load an .all file. i get the message "wrong file".

any one know how to get this to work?

from the 1k manual, get it, read it.

Data Compatibility
MPC1000 SEQ, WAV, PGM

MPC2000/2000XL SEQ, WAV, SND, PGM (Most parameters of PGM file can be loaded.)

MPC2500 SEQ, WAV, PGM

MPC4000 SEQ, WAV, PGM (DRUM program only. Only note assign and tune are loaded.)

MPC3000 SND (THRU Computer)

Z4/Z8 WAV, PGM (DRUM program only. Only note assign and tune are loaded.)

S5000/6000 WAV only (THRU Computer)

S1000/3000 No compatibility

On your 2kxl, save each INDIVIDUAL seq as midi type 1 (.MID file) now load that .MID file into your 1k.
Of course you'll need your pgm sample/pad assignments str8 for it to playback correctly.

between the mpc models, the samples (WAV) will always load fine if 44khz/16bits.

the aps, all, set (combination type files) will not always carry over into the next mpc which is where alot of people are getting
their heads beat up on. sometimes not all the parameters carry over to the next mpc cause paramaters are taken out/added and not everything is the same, so to keep it simple, usually I've seen in a pgm, the pad assignment is left intact.because it's an mpc though, alot of people are thinking everything will fit and play, not always the case.

knowing what formats are what and what exactly is contained in those formats can mean life and death, life by moving on and making music or death by banging your head against the wall in frustration.

do yourself a HUGE favor and figure out what is in each format of file that you use, find out what can your machine use and it will take a big load off your chest.

not everything you can look up on the internet though, some stuff you just gotta live through it to feel it out.
