Q for reason & MPC users

for those who are experienced using both i have a question.
i am a fairly experienced Reason user. been using it since 2003-4 or so.
i have just received my MPC 1000bk yestrday and still learning it!

anyways the question is, what am i able to do or not do compared to REASON?

i think i may have to narrow this down.

consider the fact that im using NNXT sampler, drum machine, reverb delay to make a beat. (of course there is the sequencer window)

and making beat on the MPC.

i am able to detail edit on reason moving samples etc. using the sequence screen.
also i may trigger a sample or drum anytime (punch in?) as i please.

do i have to do everything by ear on the MPC?

i mean im still learning how to sequence a song correctly so i can't say much but anyone using both programs let me know the pros and cons i would be very thankful!

JJ OS will give you a grid edit screen that may make you feel more comfortable coming from Reason.

Or there is always step edit.

Without JJ-OS you've got to do everything by ear - with a lil help from the Time Correction, or you've got to use Step Edit (as said before). But I never used it - it scares me! I came from Reason 2, when I first got my MPC 1k. Getting into live programming took me some time, but also - and that's the big plus of the mpc - my understanding of sound, rhythm and groove just evolved and got deeper... so hang in there!

i used midi controllers so in essence i relied on my ears alot but being able to edit a bit was nice.

the step editor i found out is pretty useful in my opinion. its exactly what i needed. simple copy paste and etc.
wish u could drag samples around slightly left or right still havn't found that out.
its always nice to fix that ONE sample without having to redo the whole sequence. but overall im loving JJOS!

It's all basicly the same. Step edit on the mpc and the sequencing on reason is just two formats of the same element. It's good to know both and be able to work as good with numbers (mpc) as with blocks (reason).

I went from a traditional drum machine to the MPC so that's right up my alley haha

The only thing I feel the MPC lacks is good effects. It has OK effects, but not as good as I had wished.
