Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By rb4rma2z Fri Jun 13, 2008 7:22 am
So my birthday is coming up and mommy is throwing down some dough (18th BDAY is the poop)..anywho,I already have an MPC1000,and it does pretty good, works fine and has cool features and what not but i'm really interested in upgrading to the 2000xl.The thing about the 1000 is that the pads are small and that bugs me,also the screen not being able to sit up,etc..just a few little things.Anyways I found a nice working 2000 in my local area and I'm considering selling my old unit and getting a 2k.My question is are there any things i should look for when testing out the 2000?malfunctions,mess ups, etc.and is it really worth it/is the machine better than the 1000.?any help would be greatly appreciated.
peace.

1k is the upgrade, 2000xl is a downgrade, stay where you are with the 1k.

i'd upgrade to a 2500.. unless you can get a 2000xl that's fully blown.. cause that's basically what a 2500 is..
from what i've read about the 1000, you're not truly downgrading, besides having some onboard efx already and a usb port where you can drop and drag, and qlink.. that's the only true features of the 1000 that's different.. I'd get a 2500 in a heart beat. a 1000 is just a stabalized 500..lol.. get that 2500 if u wanna upgrade. I dunno how the pads are but u can buy softer pads at mpcstuff or that vst site.

Well this one comes with an external disk drive, upgraded studio outs+memory expanded to maximum capacity, and a gig bag for 500 bones.
Or should i mess with the og 2000?i just don't like how small the pads are on the 1000..=[

i think the only place you wanna go is a 2500
you'd be going the opposite way if you went for a XL

I know what u mean about pads etc and tilt screen but u could get a pad up grade and u could gt a stand for the 1k.
When i had a 2k classic i used to have a book under the back of it so i could see the screen easily (that was a free cheap up grade, lol)
I still do that with my xl...feels more comfy being like that.

I dunno, i like the XL, i have it maxed out with 8 outs and effects board.

Do what you gotta do..if you wanna cop an XL then just do it.
If you can afford to keep the 1k for a while why you try the xl out then do that. You can always sell the less favoured one. They seem to hold there value dont they

Honestly let your mom do something she needs with the money 18 = grown up.
If you have a 1k there is no reason to be looking at the 2k or 2kxl, just too much lost on that direction.
You probably have the old funky pads that need the upgrade and how hard is it to tilt the unit.
Don't let people fool you into believing the either 2k is better than the 1k.
Even worse with either JJ OS.

do what you feel man....
you can try it.
if you feel its an upgrade, if you love working with it - then its a upgrade.
there's one rule: no rules.
i wouldn't ever trade a mpc1000 for my fully loaded XL.
never ever.
i need some space.
but thats just my point of view.
its not everthing about up and downgrades.
its about feeling and emotion.
just my opinion.

Couldn't you just use an MPD as a controller for the MPC1K?

Even I have a 2kxl, played with 1k before, several times, as much as I love my 2kxl, I recognize the machine with WAY more potential, a beefed up 2kxl can't compete w/ a 1k. That beefed up 2kxl will cost more also. Just recognize the better machine and go with that, 1k.

I am in the process of obtaining a mint contidion maxed out 4k though. Then and ONLY then will I give up my beloved 2kxl..

NEVER get rid of the xl bro.

And whoever thinks that the 2kxl even maxed out can touch the capabilities of a 1k are seriously drunk or something. Look homie, if you are looking to upgrade the 1k, the only way would be the 2500 or 5000. Keep what you have and go get something else with what you would have to pay for the xl.
