hello there people!
i just had 2 ideas i would like to share before asking jj.

1. would it be possible to make quantization go up to 64, probably even 64 triols and down to 4?
jj could add it by holding tap and double-pushing f5/f6 or f1/f2 for 4th, the way lfo/mutes works in program edit.
i don't see how it could not work, but i'm not sure if anybody else came up with that idea...

2. why not add the ability to set the highest and lowest amout of ticks (ie. 12 to 96-which would a 4th) to the q-links and play the sample like note repeat with the ability to make it repeat faster as you move the slider. this could create bouncy sounds.

ie. donk......donk.....donk....donk...donk.donk.donkdondodddd... :)

cosign on this idea, especially the part about assigning a qlink to note repeat value & getting a smooth transition from low to high.

only thing i could see being a problem would be the tabs display getting crowded with the extra values. i think the triplet values should be paired with their non-triplet values on each tab. so that each tab would have a 2nd press option to get the triplet value.

1/4-1/4t 1/8-1/8t 1/16-1/16t 1/32-1/32t etc...

the second value could just be displayed as a "T" on each tab to save space. doing this you would have room for values of 1/4 to 1/128 triplets (!!!) on the display!

nym here on a rare visit in between work:

2 words regarding quantisation needs:

quantization strength.

TC =1/8 @ 35% strength.

INCREDIBLE time saver/performance maximizer.

...or a 'Make my beats sound like Dilla / Pete / Shadow / Premo / Kanye' quant setting, heh heh! (_:_)

Those are great ideas!
I would really like to have noterepeat-rate being controlable by q-link.
Selectable with or without triplets and qlink-range.
And also some kind of quantization-strength...
like a humanize-function for pre-quantized noterepeat-recordings.
Maybe its possible to expand the possibilities of the quantize/swing-section?

I've been waiting on this one. I guess I got spoiled since the Motif I use to use as my sampler/sequencer had it. This is the only feature I miss ever since I switched. Come on JJ!!!! :D

That's the fast food society we live in. Some people want to press a button and sound like their favourite producers within 2 days of buying their first piece of kit. They're all over the Production forums.

g4s's post = a harmless joke, similar to "can jj program the mpc to make my coffee"

quantization strength = a serious feature found in many, many hardware/software sequencers such as the 5000, Reaper, Cubase, Motif, and many others.

the concept is quantization as "relative magnetism" as opposed to the inexpressive "hard and fast rule"

oh god i hope so...

that way i can just hardwire it into the espresso machine at work and sit back and tap out some jams...

Nym, regarding quantization strength: i assume you are envisioning this as an 'offline', non-realtime feature? or did you mean something usable in realtime, like controlled by qlinks?
