The red stripe is correct by the way - it turns around when inserted in the mp

The jumper block we are all talking about is just to the right in your picture, up near the top (rear) of the unit, between the small IC and the large screw. It is a small set of three little pins with a black jumper plug on two of the 3 pins. It's not a switch per se, it is a jumper block.

Also, I just noticed the drive you have (which looks nothing like the drive on the vendor's website btw) has a molex hard drive style power connector, so you will need to cut off the end of the floppy power connector and wire in a molex 4-wire power connector. Make sure you get the 5 and 12 volt wires correct. Dude, if you don't currently have power hooked to the drive and are wondering why it doesn't work, then we are all just jerking off here!

Can you post a link to the fleaBay auction where you bought the card. You say it's similar to the one in the picture from your original post but it really looks nothing like that other one. Did the auction claim MPC 2000XL compatibility?

Funny thing is it looks more like one of the IDE to Compact Flash CF Adapter instead of a typical Card Reader.
The adapters have yielded a very inconsistent ratio of functionality on hardware units (MPC's, MV's etc), but work ok on WinXP machines.
Most of the adapters have the 44-pin/50-pin connectivity or switching.
This unit having the 50-pin/68-pin labeling may mean that it is driver dependent because it does some sort of auto-sensing for the card addressing modes.
If that is the case with then it's not going to work within a hardware unit like the MPC.
Mos Def have you done any searches for info on that particular unit to find it's specs and functional requirements?
If that doesn't give anything try contacting the manufacture to find out.
All in all you may end up using it in a computer instead of the MPC.
