mpc digital output sample rate needs to match the program input sample rate.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S/PDIF

S/PDIF is used to transmit digital signals of a number of formats, the most common being the 48 kHz sample rate format used in DAT, and the 44.1 kHz format used in CD audio.

the MPC is 44.1 though. The 2500 at least, I think the 4000 does up to 96. mismatched sample freq will alter the pitch. 44.1 is 44100 audio "slices" per second. If you try to play those same 44100 slices at 96000 pieces per second, it will essentially play twice as fast. More than twice actually. Unless I am retarded. ???
