Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

whaz up fellaz, i just wanted to varify that the timing(1/8, 1/16) was the MPC's Quantize feature. i have a motif and when i quantize on it my notes run smoothly and it helps, but this timing feature on the MPC doesnt seem like its working. i dont want it to work miracles but my ear doesnt detect a correction in the quantize feature of the MPC like it does in the Motif. thanx 4 ya time fellaz.

yeah it is the quantize. hmmm thats interesting about the quantize on keyboards being different. are there more "ticks" per beat count or something?

one thing you can try is to double the bpm (you'll have to double the bars as well). that gives you more "ticks" that are closer together & sometimes helps keep it realistic.

sorry for the made up terminology!

do you mean time correction? when the quantize field is selected, hit the open window button. from there you can choose to change whats already been recorded.

It's probably just the timing of hitting the pads thats different to a striking a key on a synth. 1/16 is the same on any sequencer.
Doubling the bpm so you get more "ticks" won't make any difference in 1/16 in my opnion.

when the timing is on does this quantize automatically or do i have to open the window and do it?
also do you guys know if the MPC has termination on it. Im trying to connect my 50 GB SCSI hard drive to my Motif and MPC at the same time and a user on the motif forum said to do so the MPC would have to include termination, the motif already does. but any way thanx again.
