so i bought protools m powered 7.0 used about 3 months ago on craigslist, but i have leopard, so i was waiting for it to become available for the new mac os and i didnt install it.

so a couple days ago, i thought, well, it should work with the new os because they made it available for 7.4.2, so i installed my program, and there was a bunch of bugs and stuff so i thought, well ****, i might as well just download the new version and pay the 80 dollars to upgrade it.

so i did, then whenever i try and open it, it keeps saying you need to authorize it and all this ruckuss, and im thinking well they proabably just want me to pay for it then it will all be good, becasue i just clicked the "download new version" link and it just started downloading so im like "yeah it will take me to a website where i can pay for it then i can finally use the thing!

so i click yes i want to autohorize then it says my ilok, isnt compatable with this version and i say, well take me to the internet page to get that autorization. but it keeps telling me the server is down.

so i waited a day and it still says this, and im thinking the server cant be down for that long, something must be wrong, so i go to ilok.com and try and see if anything is gona come up there, so i go there, make an account and click "syncronize" and it tells me that my ilok cant be used because it is registered by another ilok account.

and i dont have this dudes phone number anymore or his emails!
what am i supposed to do?
do you know if there is a way to clear old iloks?
any help would be greatly appreciated,

im thinking about just buying a new one and authorizing that, but i dont have the original serial number to do that even becuase i didnt get a serial number with my 7.4.2 download because digi wont let me pay for it!

so am i just going to be **** here? should i just buy a whole brand new protools m-powered 7.4.2 and wait until august until i can order the physical discs??

Pro Tools is a pain in the arse to set-up especially when you have to mess with iloks.

I have recently sold my Digi 002 which i had for a while so i had to go through many of the same ilok issues. What I can say is that the person you got it from should have given you all the details you'd need to go with the ilok.

You cannot change the username for an ilok but you can change the password. You cant clear an ilok either but you can transfer the licenses to another registered ilok. Authorisations remain on an ilok even after they have expired.

In many cases you dont have to use an ilok if you'd rather register the plug-ins online with the manufacturer in the 'traditional' way, but this limits you to a single computer unlike the ilok.

Dont mess with the synchronisation stuff unless you are sure of what you are doing.

Stick with the setup that you KNOW DOES WORK and roll with it. Upgrading is not always a sensible thing to do.

Now I cannot stand anything with a dongle/ ilok type thing, occupying one of my valuable usb slots doing next to nothing and FAR TOO MUCH HASSLE!

yeah, i went down to the music store today and the dude was like

you need to contact the guy you got it from then fax this transfer of license paper over to digi so it can be in my name. so i got shafted becuase i dont have the dudes number or email anymore. weak.

and those damn dongles do take up too much usb space dammit!
