Sampling from "mainout" as source sounds distorted

I'm having a weird new problem. When I play a drum sequence and sample it back into the MPC by changing the input to "main out" then it comes in distorted. What gives? I've done this before to chop up my own beats, and the levels where perfect. Can somebody let me know what I'm doing wrong?

On the OTHER screen try turning the master volume down, think it's mode + pad 10
