SCENARIO 1:

let's say i have a certain sample on bank 1 pad 1 of the MPC1000.

i program a pattern using this sample and then put the pattern into a song.

in the midst of playing, i realize that this sound is too quiet.

if i change the volume (or any other parameter) of bank 1 pad 1, is this change instantly reflected when i play back the pattern or song?

SCENARIO 2:

let's say i have another sample on bank 1 pad 2 of the MPC1000 in the same song as above.

i realize that i don't like the sound and i want to replace it.

can i easily change the sound in the pattern(s) to another one without reprogramming?
AND
is that new sound now reflected in the song already using the pattern(s)?

These are things you also just could have tried. It doesn't cost you
any money to go ahead and try stuff like this.

Save first then go ahead and experiment.

well i don't own it yet...i'm considering buying one but i am making sure what it can and can't do. i can't even try it really, when i go into a store they don't have it hooked up. i don't want to engage in a whole "demo it for me" situation when i know i'm not going to buy it from them for various reasons.

blahzay, thanks so much! that sounds excellent and perfect for my needs in those respects.

NearTao wrote:You can normalize your samples to make them louder, but you can't just increase/decrease a sound by an arbitrary amount.

In OS 2 you can deal with this by then modifying the amp envelope I believe...

oh wow, that's a big deal to me, are you serious? that can't be true...really?

see, i'm just going to be pulling in samples via USB from my computer. but these samples aren't going to be perfectly balanced individually to each other. how could anyone know before bringing in a sample what loudness they want to use it at in a pattern?

i was thinking of getting the JJ OS, at least the free if not the paid version, does that make this easier?

or am i overreacting to an offhand comment?

blahzay wrote:2- yes, just scroll through your prg/kits while the sequence is playing. Any program with a sample on that pad will play whatevr you recorded

hmm, i just re-read this.

so it will only scrol through the samples on that particular pad? not go through the entire list of samples i have loaded up?
is this limitation just because the sequence is playing? in other words, can i change it to a sample not on that pad if i go into some other menu?
