Floppy Drive Woes?

Some guy on roger linns forum said that he bought a sp 1200 floppy drive from route 66 and it worked right out the gate in his 60.

And its cheaper than the 60 one they got.

worth a shot for you cats having trouble with 3.10 and route 66 floppy drives.

So the SP1200, Route 66 floppy drive works with the MPC60 w/3.10 upgrade but the MPC60 drive does not? That's weird.

Good info to know just in case my floppy drive dies (God forbid as I don't know how old it is).

I don't know if it does, this guy said it worked for him, he didn't have to mess with jumpers or anything.

I am not certain that this would be correct info. It has been a few years since I owned an SP1200, but I think I remember them using Commodore drives.

Commodore drives would not work in an MPC. Actually a Commodore drive is a pretty hard part to come by. Even the most famous East coast repair shop/retail store, Rogue Music, sold a Sp-1200 with a broken drive for cheap since even they could not attain a replacement floppy drive.

Hmm, all this drive talk is confusing me.

Am I to assume that the floppy drive that the 60 came with fitted as standard does not have any product code on it anywhere?! Surely there's something scribed on the drive that could assit in identifying the manufaturor/model?.....

route 66 uses a different drive. It might be wrong, but this guy had it work.

Are you sure that tey couldn't get one or they were just being lazy....I saw an eBay auction that had with a sp1200 about 6 mo ago and I called them and they told me that they just didn't have the time to fix it.......let me know??????????
