How do people use their MPC 1000s?

I'm wondering how people specifically use their MPC 1000s

I'm wondering because someone was telling me the other day what I'm doing with it is sort of not the usual thing. What I do is use it live, and load in basslines, drum samples, and melodies from my synths. And then build up songs from the albums I've made and use it live to play some backing stuff, plus I trigger from vocal samples and drum samples live. I've maxed the memory out, and I just load my entire set when I turn on the MPC (autoload folder) and just go for it.

Now I've heard some people will do seperate loads for each song, or they'll use the MPC as much more of a live instrument to build up grooves etc. So how do you use yours? I'm realy interested

oh yeah, that's interesting. So would you keep everything loaded into ram at the same time? I've found 100 memory slots to be really restricting when you keep everything loaded up at once

yeah...I maxed ram out...128 mb or something like that...and I don't load everything at once...I sample as I go...sample melody...then sample drums...then sample bass...then sample synths...I've never run out of ram while composing a beat

I use my MPC to play Pong.

i use my mpc to record my pad performances utilizing oneshots only (loaded from library/chopped from wave/vinyl/vhs/etc) to compose complete songs. when they're done in the MPC, i record them track by track into REAPER for eqing, effects, and macrosamples

i use it compose entire songs also. its like my brain right there.

i just use it to show of, works great for attracting nice females. If you'd really want to be badass you should say your producing for some kind of famous rapper.. your mpc 1000 is worth it..

on the serious side, yea i use it to compose whatever i want, mostly i track them out in cubase together with my microkorg stuff and play some extra stuff with vsti in cubase..

i actually used my mpc live once or twice..

- compose entire songs on it
- use as drum machine then import to live
- my favourite thing is to just play around with it

maybe have some mates over, have drinks and ill just improv off some kits that i have loaded with a bass loop or two and some chopped samples and drum samples and play it out live; while friends have a go at drunken freestyle...
sounds good at the time... if i ever recorded it probably sound like a cow killing itself...

I use the 4k mostly,but when I do use the 1k I use the same,which is as a sequencer to program my drums and arrange my samples. I find that I don't choose one over the other. I just like the MPC's sequncers,even the 500. If my 4k broke tomorrow I don't think I'd be hard press to replace it.

i midi my 1000 to four sound modules and a triton keyboard. keep an ass load of drum pgm's loaded up and use it as the master sequencer to compose original and sample chopped music.then track to audition and lay down vocals.

I use a few my mpc 1000 a few different ways.

my way # 1:

i load up the mpc with a ish load of pgm's that are all drum sounds and samples. Then i use all my vst's plugins on my computer as my sound modules.

for example: i will load up

SAMPLETANK on standalone
KONTAKT 3 on standalone
SAMPLEMOOG on standalone

and route the midi from my mpc and midi keyboard to these programs and record them directly to the mpc so its a sample.

This way i am using the mpc as the sequencer. After thats done i go into pro tools and track it all out.



my way # 2:

i use the mpc as a midi controller and my computer programs a the sequencer.

This may sound like a stupid question, or I've missed something, but how do you record into an 8 track with only 4 single outputs on the 1000?
