Does anyone here use the Time stretch in JJ ?, i seen that you put the BPM value in and then tell it the BPM value you want is that accurate ?. If not is there a accurate way to stretch a sample to a certain BPM ?.

How do I use timestretch? What exactly IS timestretch? Any help would be greatly appreciated

prime typically i only use timestretch in the rare occasion that i've had to trim one of my chops to the point where it isn't filling up all the "space" it should and the resulting silence before the next note hits is irritating. typically i'll just altloop it and adjust the duration to the next note, but in this case i will just create a copy of the file and use TIMESTRETCH in EDIT to make it longer by a ratio of ORIGINAL BPM to NEW BPM.

these are just 2 integers. many of these small slices that i'm chopping are like..... a millisecond long. they don't have a "tempo." so i just increments of 20-40 bpm to stretch it to a length that fits.

on the other hand if you're using loops of audio, you calculate the original tempo and then establish the tempo you want and then stretch it...i've never been fond of all the legwork involved, nor the use of "block" samples like that, so i slice instead and use the micro-stretch when necessary.

You can also get some cool sounds if you TS down past the point of recognition.
real strange shyt, not always good tho.

I agree with Nym, most the time I try to stay away from the ts. A good chop does the trick......Plus the mpc's algorithms suck......

yeah, i use it to create drum-rolls out of snare one shots. with a little adsr-tweaking you'll get a completley new sample with fits perfectly to the snare.
or you do the same with you kick, put a high pass filter on it and simult-pad it with a lowpass filtered original kick. makes it stompier. but you can also achieve this by using chorus...

nah i know what you mean Phunny... i know the way you wanna use it...i think...
answer is the time stretch is not too acurate.. try and do it by ear as opposed to looking at wavelengths cause
at the end of the day.. your listening to it, not looking at it
but if you wanna be all round acurate... its best to chop and stretch your hits in Cubase or the likes. then chuck em in your MP..

if you wanna get tech with it email me... in case you didnt know.. you were emailing me the other day
dont think you knew it though

Nice tips. I was just being feces when I asked what timestretch was.
