since many folks are talking about converters and the sound of the mpc3000, i`d like to ask you to help me make measurement of the AD-DA of the mpc. There`s a free tool called RMAA which can measure such things as Frequency Response, Total Harmonic Distortion, Crosstalk etc. I attached the test wav. file for the test procedure which is as follows:
1. While playing the Test Signal file wav. files from your computer, sample it from your computer interface`s analog OUTs into analog INs of the MPC (Levelwise possibly close to 0 dbFS in the sample dialog window of the mpc but not touching 0 it so the meter in the record dialog window of the MPC showing -6 dbfs on the calibrating 1 kHz sine peeep in the start is the perfect level match).
NOTE: Be sure to play the file at its original sample rate 44,1 Khz!
2. Assign the recorded sound to a pad and trigger its playback at the full level while recording it from the analog OUTs of the MPC into analog INs your computer interface at 44,1 khz.
3. Send the resulting wav. file to daicehawk[at]hotmail.com or post it here.
I will analyze the resulting file witth the RMAA and post the measurement results here. Of course, this test involves measurement of your computer audio interface, but AFAIK, most of the decent audiocards are more linear, than the mpc`s AD/DA chain.
And i`ll post the measuremnt results of my MPC2kxl.
