I'm getting to that point of pulling out my hair because I can't seem to figure out what should be so simple. All I want to do is record all my melodic stuff in Reason and program all the drum parts directly on the MPC2500 with the mpc acting as master. I have an M-Audio Midisport 2x2 and it shows up in my Reason advanced prefs and have the Midi Clock input selected to port A of the midisport. I have the MPC set to master (A), send MMC "on" with the midi out cable going to the midi in "A" port on the front of the interface with the "usb" button enable and not "thru". When I press start on the mpc the "in A" light button comes on button reason doesn't budge (in thru mode nothing lights up at all). I have an Axiom 49 connected to my PC via usb. Any suggestions.

Also, I really don't want to use Reason as a sound module because putting together a song on an mpc can be tedious compared to the Reason sequencer. Edits, moving data and a much bigger and nicer visual are the main reasons for that. Setting up reason as a sound mod was incredibly easy and I can't figure out why what I want should be harder!! Thx all.

No Way.......

Hello I am a Ableton7 User

For you i have Installed Reason
It works fine with the MPC2500

My MAudio Ozone is connect to the PC via USB and the Midi Out to MPC2500
This is very important !!!!!!

At your Axiom it must be connect it too !!!!!!

Than you can hear and record all the sounds from Reason on your MPC Pads

I hope you understand me

Ok I got it now. I needed to set up Reason for Midi Clock under the Options >Sync menu. So now I've gotten sync, but its incredibly out of sync. Guess I'll search the forum some more for that answer. I remember midi clock being tight back in the day with an MPC60 II and a bunch of hardware modules. Maybe its not the same when trying to sync to PC software apps?

But are you syncing the MPC to Reason? The cable works if you use it to send MIDI back and forth but for some reason when you try and sync the MPC it will not function properly. Only some MIDI devices are capable of "Syncronization".

That MIDI Sport **** your using will not work. It will not sync properly and thats why it sounds all crappy and off tempo and cutting off.

You need a soundcard with MIDI.

Ahhh! Do you have any recommendations of cards that will work? I still have a few days left to return the Midisport to the Guitar Center.

I have a similar midi problem. 2500 to triton Studio. After trying various setting changes I'm pretty much sure this sh*t doesnt work. I can trigger sounds from the triton using the pads on the MP, but it wont record the notes if i play the keys. Maybe im retarded, but i dont think so.

If anyone's got this figured out holla at a brotha. Cus I've read pretty much everything on this topic and its still a no go.

Midisport 1x1

MPC midi settings dependant on cabling

Syncout : A (MASTER)
Mode:midi clock
Send MMC :On

Reason
Preferences
Midi Clock Sync Port InUSB Midi 1x1

Options
sync=midi clock

Thanks Maxim1 for being the only one to answer the question. Sometimes People just gotta be superknowitall and dont actually look at the simple question and give a simple answer. Granted, this sync issue with Reason is all over the place in this forum. But it shouldnt take a hundred posts in a topic before someone answers a simple fu@k!ng question! Thanks again Maxim1.
