Adding samples CD's to the eternal HD of the 4k.

How would I place a Akai sample cd into the cd drive of the MPC4K and transfer it to the internal HD of the 4000. I want to make a massive collection of all my sample cd's and I dont want to load all the samples then save them to the disk. CVan't I use akai.sys and drag and drop them?
I also dont want to use CDXtract to wack'em into waves becuase I want to keep the programs.

Anyone know.

well, first you press the eject button on the CD-ROM Drive. Then you place the Akai sample CD in the CD-ROM Drive...presto you have just put an Akai sample CD into the CD drive!!

Seriously though, what I did was put the sample CD in the PC, used CDXtract to convert it into S5000/6000 akai format. This format consists of wav files, but includes a program file. Then I transferred each one by USB through akai.sys. I did about 30 CDs or so, and it took a couple of days. Pretty crazy, they could have easily added a function of "copy to HD" from the CD-ROM drive. If you don't have a computer or CD Extract, then you have to load up each CD into RAM and save it back to the HD....how efficient.

I have CDXTRACT, I should convert them to tha akp. files but I dont see any wavs when I do this. I only see the file names. Dose that make sense?

You have to click the programs first,(up right), then you will see the wav files (down right).

Dont forget that cdxtract converts to 16 44.1 automaticaly, so you will lose some of the sonic quality.

Ok, but when I convert it to S5000/6000 it only saves it as one file, when the others save with a wav file. Is that normal?
