Audio Thru on MPC500?

Am I correct in thinking that there is no real "audio thru" function on the 500? To my knowledge you can only hear the audio inputs when in Record mode.

Well, have a look at Akai's official MPC comparison guide. It seems to list the 500 as having audio thru.

i wish it could do that, then it's more like an additional input which would be great. and you can mess around with the MPC while playing, cas you don't have to be in record mode

It has Audio-Thru when it's not on.

Kind of pointless except for that you don't have to switch cables or turn on your 500 just to listen to something.

Well I find that Ssnedden is... 100% correct!!! Did anyone else realize the 500 sends the audio inputs directly to the outputs when turned off?

It's kind of cool how that works, but it has me thinking-- If it can do audio thru while not even turned on, why can't it have audio thru while sequencing? Those bastards...

I know, right? It's also amazing that it can do it when not on and on battery power. Crazy. But not when it's on?

almost seems like they just forgot, cas there is really no reason for that at all. something we should put up in the ideas for the next OS release

Wait so anyway, what is the consensus here? Is that a typo on the MPC comparison chart? The "audio thru while turned off" is obviously not Audio Thru in the traditional MPC sense.
