Scratch with a MPC2000XL

Whats crackin' everbody? My homie told me that you can hook up your MPC to your keyboard and use the modulation or pitch bend wheel to scratch. He said something about having to load a sample on a pad then reverse the sample and put it on another pad. Does anyone know about this? If so can you help?

I know what your homie is talking about but I'm afraid that such technique is too advanced for the phrase sampler the mpx is. I do this kind of 'scratching' some times but only with my ESI-32 sampler. You can simply not change the pitch of a sample or crossfade between 2 sample pads on the MPC withoput retriggering the sample. These techniques are quite necessary for doing a kind of intereesting 'scratching'.

yeah you can make scratch effects, load a vocal sample to a pad. Shift-assign the slider en hit the pad and play with the fader, there you got a scratch

just load a 2 sec vocal sample. Then (I dont know how to explain it) on the left you got the fader Press shift and assign (the button above the slider) now, keep hitting the sample en keep fading just play with..

You can do that but it will lack the scratching sound, so it's kind of pointless..

there is a better way of doing it.. just hook your piece up to a dj mixer.. i seen dj shadow, cut chemist, and dj numark do it. It sounded like they used a scratch sample but they were all goin nuts on it.

You seen the pushing buttons extra on the shadow DVD ? That shit is sooo dope ... these guys rock mpc HARD.

i think you can do it with a turntables, not too sure though. let machiens do there thing

if u want 2 do it and not actually record or seq the scratchin sound, just sample something pretty big and then on the trim screen hold shift and move the fader while pressing pads- if u use some vocals u can actually get it 2 sound like ur really cuttin
