are you trying to save or load the file? i dont get it.

by any chance did this happen after you put the card on your pc?

this happened to me with a floppy where it renamed some of my files with k9 on the end.

im not aware that the same happens with CF cards though.

my issue was with the program not wanting to load all the sounds because the snd files had been renamed to something else after i put my floppy in the pc. but i was still able to load the sounds individually instead of having them load automatically with the load program option. then i renamed them back to the original file name.

samples and programs save not on the data but the actual NAMES also. If you change a filename
you run the HIGH riskof not being able to load it.

Change the names back.

I just made a new beat, then I saved it just like this,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9VFOZMoW18

I turned off the MPC,then turned it back on,and loaded the ALL_SEQ file ,then I loaded the ALL_PGMS file and it worked perfect.

Now,After putting the CF card in my PC, then putting it back into the MPC the ALL_SEQ file wont load(like four eyes was saying)My PC is changing the file name,Why?

So,the solution to this is to manually change the ALL_SEQ file name when the CF card is in my PC?Should save the ALL_SEQ file MIDI,Like Benhoughton suggested?

Still lost here.

Thanks

The solution is NOT to put an mpc formatted card into your pc.

Format the card on pc FIRST using fat/fat16 and keep your filesnames 8 characters or less.

Fat on pc and fat on mpc is slightly different.

Now, you can use that media between pc and mpc with no problem. If you start back using
filenames longer than 8 characters you will have filename truncation problems.

I formatted the CF card, then I made a beat and saved it the same way,put it back in the PC,then back to the MPC and it didnt work.

When I Save ALL Sequences & Songs,If I rename it ALL_SEQ_ it works,by default it asks you to save it ALL_SEQ_SONG1

HOW did you format the card, duh. You didn't say.
Your skipping steps and not mentioning EVERY thing.

Rename, you don't HAVE to stick with the default save name.

Save each project into it's own folder if you need. Not everything on the root of the media.

Cmon man.

I put the CF card in my PC,The CF card opens up under My Computer/removable disk(H:)I right clicked it and went to format.Under file system it says FAT and FAT32,I used FAT.

sorry for not mentioning that, but i have it working

Yeah, cool.

Use that fat/fat16.

Stay with 8.3 format for your filenames and you'll be fine.

Save each new song and all it's bit and pieces in it's own folder and you'll be fine.

yeah plus this saves you hassle renaming all your stuff.

Instead of naming every sample, track program, sequence whatever... I just dump each beat in its own folder with sound1.snd etc and pattern1.mid and no troubles!
