Ok im looking to buy a motif for its sounds only. I don't need the sampling or sequencing so should I go for the rack or the whole keyboard cause as much as I don't need anything but the sounds, I do need a keyboard to play the sounds on cause I don't want to use the pads to trigger the sounds.. And I guess the rack and midi keyboard with probably equal the es6 price wise.. I know it sounds like I answered my own question but im looking for opinions and or suggestion...... peace

I don't see a problem with you finding a good 76 key controller rather than a 61 key to go with your rack. That's the decision I made after dealing with limited space and whatnot. In most cases though, the keyboard versions have all the options as opposed to their rackmount counterparts. Basically, all my main sound sources are rackmount with the exception of the ASR10 & the Roland A-70 controller.

I'd look at it like this, if the es will be your first & only keyboard, then I'd go for the keys. You might not invision using it at the moment, but you'll be glad you made the choice to go that route in the long run.
