Can the 2500 assign tracks to the 8 individual outputs?

hey homies i'm new here, i just bought a used 2500 off ebay, i got it on saturday and i'm lovin it so far... this forum has been really helpful in getting me started.

sadly the unit i bought didn't come with a manual (or a power cable!)... i done a search here but finding it hard to get something definitive.

i just wanted to know can the mpc2500 assign a a whole track to an individual output? for example if my sequence had 8 tracks, could i use all eight ouptuts to track to my mixer channels? if so can you explain how this is done?...

i hope the question isn't asking too much, any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can assign Pads to the outs, not Tracks.

Exactly. However, if you keep all 8 sounds on seperate tracks, you can say tracks can be assigned individually.

jjos2 does tracks

u cant assing the whole track but the individual sounds...press mode and pad 8 that will take you to the mixer window hit f2 l/out and assign your sounds by hitting the pads now they will come up as stereo so you have to pan left right for 1/2 and so on until you use all 8...akai should have put light pipe on the mpc to give us more outs fa real fa real! hope this helps!

using the individual outputs is a waste of time.... just use stereo out and mute all the other tracks or solo each sound

It's not if you have a proper mixer or recording interface.

Hmmm. I have always used multiple outs on my s950, sp1200, eps16, etc. I find it very convenient to be able to make fewer recording passes when I track out my beats. What if someone had 16 different sounds to track out. You're saying doing two at a time, recording, then doing another two at a time is faster? I disagree. My friend has a bare 2000xl and it takes him forever.

Sure, it can be done, but if you have multiple outs and a recording device that allows you mix or record individual outs? WHY wouldn't you use it?

The only goooood reason I could think of is if you had very high end 2 channel AD DA converter like a 2 channel Mytek and that is all you could use was 2 outs/ins at a time.

Is there a difference in audio quality between the 8 outs and the stereo outs? I think I remember hearing that about the 1000 and the 4 outs on it...someone said the audio was best on the stereo outs? Doesn't sound right to me, but I have been wrong before...Anyone know anything about this?

I sometimes have all 8 outs going into my A&H GS3 mixer. I can then add my pcm70, tube pre, spring reverb tank, old roland chorus and any of my compressors and utilise the aux send of individual beats for sidechaining puposes, etc, etc, etc to any of the channels by either assigning to groups and/or individual channels in the desk. I then have 8 outs from the desk going into my soundcard. Not to mention, you then got analogue eq (3-band in this case) on every out from the mpc. It really, really, really opens up the sound you can achieve and let's you really gel sounds together. A lot!
I record/track-down each separate channel after it has been affected in the analogue domain.

I usually just do a shift-[bank number] and change the OUT channel that way.

I'm not by my MPC at the moment. Is this a short cut to the mixer?

I suppose I did get a bit carried away And I don't have it set up like that all the time, just when recording a finished tune. I just meant that the individual outs are def getting used by me.

When in mixer mode, got to the outs page, then hold down shift and press your bank letter to select all the row, then set all 16 pads to the out channel of your choice, in one go. Quick and easy. This is the quickest way that I know of setting all the pads in a track to individual outs.
I usually end up mixing-up the out channels within a track.

To be precise, you set the pads in all the tracks to those outs.

Yes I did. It was the "Bank Number" thing that threw me off. I thought you might be able to assign an entire bank at once. But thanks for taking the time to explain.

Sounds like a great setup! I love A+H mixers.
