Help Comparing Effects/Features: 4000 VS 2500/1000

So Ive used a ton of MPCs before, 60, 3000, 2XL, 500 & currently have the 1000. Got a little extra cash and am aiming up on making the leep to the 4000. A couple questions, how do the effects of 4000 compare with 2500/1000? Im reading some reviews that the 4000's effect arn't that great. When I had my 2XL, I got the effects expansion & those sounded pretty bad. On the other hand, the 1000 has much better ones. Was wondering were the 4000 compared with those two? Also, another, simple, & probably dumb question. Can the 4000 sample while playing the beat in real time? I assume if definitely can, just wantto cover my bases since the core 4000 came out in between the 2xl & 1000/2500. Any help in general is appreciated.

let me get this right... you got fully blown 24 bit res sampler vs phrase sampler and you are concerned with FX ?

why not get a effects processor or some shit. instead of the 4000

I had 4000 for brief min with the FX board installed, didnt go thru each. but I wasnt feeling the FX.

but again there is so many other features that machine is packed with that FX shouldnt even be of concern.

I think if youre looking for quality FX box instead of 4000.

Yeah, i agree about getting an FX box, but for simple things like adding a little bit of reverb to a snare, I'd rather just hit a few buttons on the MP then have to fire up another unit. The 2XL effects expansion was pretty horrible even for someting small like that, just wanted to make sure the 4000 wasn't based on that for its FX. Seeing the 4K is a monster, Im assuming the FX are better and more efficient. And FX arn't even close to the reason I want the 4K, I want it for much more then that, but was just curious about the fx section.

Yeah, I was just having a discussion over in the studio enviroments section about running the mp thru an external efx box.

Personally, I choose not go this route on using the efx within the mpc. But depending on what you got externally, it can make a h*ll of a difference.

cubase/protools with killer sound card will do it.

youe have to edit the **** FX you cant just use them at preset value or yes it will sound like shit Experiment with them change the values. I started liking the fx alot better after I started doing that.
Sometime when you dont have alot you learn to use what you got....

I've never used one, but that's what I was thinking. I mean, everything about it is so advanced and well-designed, so why would the effects be any different.

because they intended to make the box a sampler/sequencer not an all in one box w/ fx. the mpc's weakness lies in its effect selection. sure they're usable, but it's so much easier just to get an external unit for that purpose. think ensoniq dp4...sp303/404...kaosspad..etc.
