if I got you right, oy ucan do this kinda thing with an eq.

Just take out the top and bottom ends of your vocal, so that yo uare left with just the mid frequencies. Voila - thin, telephone-like vocals.

personally i record to mini tape (the little dictation recorders with built in mic) for lo-fi fx but i'm really interested in this little toy >

Radio Shack sells standard size cassette recorders that hook to your telephone line for $30 as well. you can get one of those and hang it off one line, run your HEADPHONE OUT from a mixer with the audio source into the 1/8" connection for a 'hands free' telephone set.

then you have the real deal. you can play with hanging the recorder off different phones etc.

good luck!

cut the lows, cut the highs a little, boost the mid frequencies a little and sweep them until you hit it. Or just use a bandpass filter.

Sound Forge 6 does have the effect you are looking for. When I get home, I'll check out the program and let ya'll know. I've used it before to get that "telephone" sound.

Okay go to Cool Edit go to the editing screen go to Transform,FFT Fitlers and scroll down to an effect called "Get Off The Phone" that should do it but you might have to tweak to your liking.
