Sync my Mpc60 To Protools

I bought an Mbox 2 w/PTLE 7.31 last year. I am just now understanding the concepts of tracking beats, creating space between tracks, and using PT to control my MPC60 3.10 OS via midi.

Here's what I've got:
MPC60 midi out to S950 midi in. (beat is done, sequence's, chops, etc. ready to track).

S950 channel 1-8 connected to MBox DI inputs 1 and 2 (i can only record 2 tracks at a time since I'm working with an Mbox.)

Mbox midi out-MPC midi in.

In PTLE, I go to Setup-Midi-Midi beat clock-enable.

In MPC 60, I go to MIDI, OPTION 3.MIDI input filter, midi volume set to receive, prog. change set to recieve, midi vol. now
127, event:notes, pass event?:yes, velocity mode:NORMAL.

In MPC 60, midi, Option 2:MIDI routing, active track receive channel:8.

Am I missing something? I'm anxious to start tracking my beats and recording. Any advice is greatly apprecaited.

You should synchronize your midi clock , PT as a master and the mpc 60 as a slave , you have to assign the MPC to external clock ( SYnC screen ) and you should be ready .But i don't really get what you want to do , recording Audio or midi Datas ?

i only have a 2 channel stereo interface too. i always thought it would be great to just be able to do to 2 swipes of 1-8 and have all the channels tracked in a firewire interface but i cant keep spending money on gear these days and doing it like that and mixing that deep makes me hate the beat when im done. 60 has a super tight midi clock and using the computer as the master clock never seemed as solid to me. i always ended up w/ slight drift and whatnot that can really kill yr whole groove. so i usually just try to get everything super tight and eq'd before i sample it and just print it raw in stereo or if i want to multitrack ill narrow the beat down to a few summed channels in the mpc (drums, bass, atmospepherics, etc) and record those groups all one at a time with the same kick drum put on a blank bar at the start of every group. that way its really easy to visually line them up in a DAW. i know its ghetto but it works just fine..i never got midi syncing to work right with any of that shit. i guess you could use smpte also...

I have heard alot of bad things about protools killing the time signature/swing too. I have considered just sending all 8 outs from my S950-mixing board-eq'ing every thing, and then sending a single signal to protools. The main problem with that is that I wont be able to eq the tracks to create space after vocals are recorded. Also can't ever use plug in fx on the tracks of the beat.

Thanks again, I will go look in the Sync screen when I get home. Slaving the mpc60 with PTLE as the master is exactly what I'm trying to do.

PTLE will control the MPC60...which controls the S950....Which will send audio out to the 2 channels of the Mbox/PTLE.

Is this what yall do?

yes it's just a matter of having your track recorded at the DAW tempo , starting exactly where it should .
