best bang for your buck ?

do they all slice ?

what is jj os ? a friend of mine (who is a long time mpc user) says that the 1000 is a waste of money but ive heard that jj os makes the 1000 tolerable...

forgive my ignorance...

im looking for portability, but i absolutely need editing features that are better than minimal as well as at least four outputs

i need to be very productive to make this worthwhile, the most important features i need are auto chop and trimming samples, resample and also quality effects especially EQ, isolating, delay and compression...

so how long would it take to get around the learning curve of the 1000 ? is that the machine i would want to start out with ?

and what would i have to do to get started once i buy a 1000 ? as far as getting the latest JJ OS, an operators manual... ?

You should head over to the JJ-OS Thread and read the FAQ and Digg the Manual Thread for the Documentation or head over to www.jjmanual.wordpress.com

And in respect to the featres you loking for in an MPC and the fact that it should be portable, I'd say the 1k is the right choice. It easily fits in a Notebook bag, I've done that before.
