Hi,

Ok heres my question. Im using a Mpc1k and a Triton. Basically i have them midi synced. So what ill do is like play a drum loop on my mpc for TRACK1. And then play a melody with the triton into Track 2. But heres my question: I want to be able to use two different instruments from the triton. Like for example i want to make a melody over my drums which consists of a guitar and a piano both played by the triton. But i find that if i switch the instrument on the triton it will switch the instruments for all tracks. So baiscally i cant use two different sounds from the triton in the same sequence. Like if i make a track with sound "A" and then start a new track and switch the triton to sound "B" the first track will also be switched to sound "A". Basically i just want to make melodys with the triton which consist of multiple instruments/sounds playing at the same time. Whats Wrong!!?!

Are you talking about the triton itself...If so you have to set the triton as the slave and the mpc as the master........Then set the tracks accordingly! drums loop on track one, track two on the mpc will play track one on the triton, track three on the mpc will play play track two on the triton and so for...Don't forget to set the mpc tracks to play the triton sounds.. Try splitting the guitar and piano on seperate tracks in the triton...........I think this will solve the problem but if not don't get frustrated, continue to seek help peace!.....

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP. BUT HOW CAN I DO THAT? I AM SEQUENCING EVERYTHING THROUGH THE MPC. SO BASICALLY THE TRITON IS THE SLAVE. LIKE AFTER I RECORD THE TRACK I CAN PLAY AND STOP IT THROUGH THE MPC AND IT WILL START AND STOP THE TRITON AS WELL. BUT THE PROBLEM IM HAVING IS USING TWO DIFF SOUNDS FROM THE TRITON IN THE SAME SEQUENCE. LIKE LETS SAY I MAKE A MELODY WITH THE TRITON FLUTE. THEN I WANT TO ADD A BASS LINE SO I MAKE A NEW TRACK IN THE MPC AND SET THE TRITON FROM THE FLUTE TO BASS. BUT WHEN I CHANGE THE TRITON FROM FLUTE TO BASS THE FIRST TRACK WILL CHANGE TOO. THE MIDI IS STILL THERE SO THE NOTES ARE THERE BUT THE INSTRUMENT CHANGES. I JUST WANT TO BE ABLE TO USE TWO DIFF INSTRUMENTS. I HOPE YOU GET WHAT I MEAN

8) ok chief, here's a jewel in midi, first, and I'm sure, make sure your synth is and set to multitimbral, this way it knows that 16 different channels are being sent via the midi cable, on the mpc side, in the main page set to midi and midi 1A for 1st trk, then midi 2A for 2nd ,etc.... also go to the midi/sync and set the mp to receive all channels, that means no matter what track is transmitted, it will be received on the midi channel you've selected. Now, make sure the triton transmits the midi info on the same channels that the mp is receiving. The main thing is the triton, you have to set everything correctly for it to be received correctly, once you make a sequence with the first trk(bassline)transmit what you want on the 2nd midi channel and set mp to midi 2a, you should hear the first track and what you're playing - - read about midi in your manual for whatever device you want to use with midi, that's usually the problem, the mpc end is fairly simple. Peace, Health and Vitality!

I have a Korg KARMA with pretty much the exact same interface, OS etc.

1. You need to be in SEQ mode (press SEQ key)

2.Set each instrument's midi channel

Pressing MENU once while on the main sequencer page then select the third menu item top option: Prm1. I here you can see options for MIDI, such as INT, EXT, BOTH, OFF, EXT2.

INT- Internal MIDI of all note information only
EXT- External MIDI of all note information only
BOTH- The setting I use
EXT2- I have not used yet

I hope your OS is close enough that you get the drift.
