Volume problem?

I received my mpc1000 yesturday. As I was hitting a pad and turning the main volume knob the sound got louder. However halfway through turning it the volume started to get lower. Any suggestions or reasons this might be happening would be appreciated.

What kind of speakers/monitors are you using? Is this MPC new? Try turning off your MPC at the point where the wheel is positioned when it starts to go low and then pinpoint if the problem is with the MPC or maybe your setup. I never had this problem, just trying to guess. If you figure it out let the forums know for further issues?

turn on full level so that every time you play a sample it is the same level.

I was using headphones and The unit is new(supposedly). I'm sending it back to musiciansfriend. Thanks for your help.
