Say hello to the NEWB!

I need to do some general reapirs to one of my 2000xl's: Screen replace, Sensor Sheet replacement and some button repalcements.

I've seen real Mc's post about the screen ,, all good and great job, but Im a little lost as to how to replace the sensor sheet and buttons...I have all the parts just need to pointed in the right direction as to removing the broken buttons and sensor sheet and installing the new ones..

Thanks in advance,

PS: I got the part's from another 2kxl whose mother board was cracked so I don't have any documentation that may come with these parts if I purchased them.

Bobby, these fixes are damn easy to make. Don't worry.

-For the sensor sheet, just unscrew the top panel, take off the pad sheet, and then unscrew the old sensor sheet. To take it completely off, you need to take out also the secure lock of the somewhat SCSI/IDE looking port on the side of the sensor sheet. That's where the MPC reads the data from when you press the pads.

This is the part you need to be a little careful not to chip it, as if it breaks, then you sensor can easily move around and some pads will lose contact. Just remember that it is taken out from the sides, not upwards. When you put the new sensor sheet, just make sure that the entire ribbon is firmly sitting inside that port.

- For those broken buttons, all you need to remember is that they are not actually connected to any circuit boards. They are just plastic parts with clips securing on holes made on the circuit boards. Nothing to be afraid off, you just need to be careful not to break those small clips when you install back the new ones.

Both fixes are damn easy for the light handed ones. 8)
