A friend of mine decided to upgrade, so he sold me his old 1000. It's the blue one, but so far I haven't noticed any problems with the pads. The OS was also never updated, so I just installed the free JJOS.

So far, I've got a pretty good handle on things, but I had some questions about recording into the device. I tried sampling something from my iPod using the digital in, but no matter what settings I use, I don't hear anything. I switched to the analog ins, and when I have it set to Mono/L I get massive amounts of static. When I switch it to Mono/R it sounds fine. Is something wrong with my MPC, or do I not have something set correctly?

iPod's don't have a digital output so that isn't going to work at all no matter what you do.

as far as static goes, try adjusting the audio levels within the iPod and the REC Gain knob on the MPC.

Just a hunch but I could swear there is something about how to sample in the manual ;)

i didn't realize it has to be a strictly digital signal. i was trying to use a 1/8" to RCA cable. i switched to a 1/8" to 1/4" to run to the analog in and the static is still happening on the left channel whether something is plugged in or not. is something wrong with the left input? i feel that probably isn't normal.

The manual does not help, work or make beats for me... it's a waste of paper.
