Ion, start a new project and on track 1 use a hi-hat and use 16th notes

Then open the TC window for track 1 and set the swing to about 60% and tell me if you notice anything.

no i dont notice any kind of change and i manipulate sounds nearly daily....

what is the problem?

also ...could it be that my output after the system default reset is much more silent?

i dunno i have the VOL on max now and can barley listen to it on heaphones if i am not hitting the pads (updated ones) harder.....

usualy my ears would get fried with the VOL on max

shit, problems over problems...

just a few pointers
50% = no swing
75%=full swing

if your pattern consists of straight 8th notes with no 16ths inbetween : 1&2&3&4& but the quantize is set to 16ths then you wont hear any swing. as you soon as you play some sounds between the 8ths you'll hear the swing 1e&a2e&a3e&a4e&a

between the 8ths means on the "e's" and "a's" of the diagram above.

shit i am not so much into that mathematical science approach... i just try to make music :)

can you describe it for someone who has no idea of that stuff?

i usualy dont quantize anything in my music at all....

as far as i thought i understood te SWING thing from reading here
its somthing like a bit beside the rythm....

compareable to the way Kool keith ryhmes

or probably exactly what makes madlib`s beats sound so heavy hitting... or in fact in the last years allready lot of hiphop stuff has that kinda side kick out of rathm beat feel

thats what we talkin about right?

i am not doing hiphop in fact, but wanna mess with that feature and see what i can do with it

More like what makes JD´s samples so juicy....

If you dont use t.c. you dont use swing. If you can make dope rhythms without t.c., don´t bother about swing.
