alesis vocal zapper

Does anyone have this?
Does it really work well?
Is it worth it?
Any info is appreciated.
I am looking to buy it but I usually check here first before spending money in case someone has any advice for me.

I think it just filters out frequencies. Might F up certain instruments or sounds in the tracks if they share the same frequencies as the vocals.

If you're right , then I wonder if it will be usefull to me.
I already have the mfc-42.
Perhaps it will still help.

They may work a little differently or they might compliment each other.
Has anyone here used the alesis joint?
I'd like some info from someone who has actually tried it out.
If no one has , I'll just have to wait until I hit the store myself but sometimes they dont have stuff hooked up so it's hard to demo stuff.

call them in advance see if they got it hooked up. If not tell them you want to demo it and if it does what its supposed to do youll buy it. ( That way they will actually want to hook it up for you )

It works great using a stero device in like a cd or a tape line in........I was able to use my cd man in the store and it filtered out the vocals very very very good but when you listen very closely you can hear it but its really really low but you figure if you use it to create a sample and then you chop and layer different events over it you wont be able to hear it......I plan on buying one saturday morning

vocal remover is a plug in that will do it but it will not be like the vocal zapper

Thanks. I visited that site a milion years ago. No idea it was still up. back in the day my computer was never fast enough to run any of their stuff, i'm sure things will work now.

But check it out , it worked cool when the sales person was doing it.
Now I got it at the crib and it aint taking any vocals out.
Actually , it's just cutting out frequencies just like the mfc 42 that I have.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong but damn there's only three knobs and one of them is "input".
I'm trying with mad different music.
Soul , rock ,rap , reggae and nothing is being removed vocal wise or at least not enough to make me keep this.
Like I said , all I'm getting is the same effects I would get with just my mfc 42 alone.
Any ideas or should I bring this back?
I know some gear takes time to learn but with only a few knobs , this should be easy.
