Is a MPC4000 worth it??

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am a newbie to this whole hardware stuff. I've done a lot of work in illegally gotten software programs in making rap beats, and I'm now interested in going to hardware. I was basically wondering what the specific differences between a 4000, 3000, and 2000XL are?

Well.. to be honest (dont shoot me guys) I dont like the pads of the MPC4000 that much. Im used to the MPC60 and those are waaayy better! If its your first MPC you wouldnt notice the difference off course And if you got the money and its your first piece of hardware, I'd go for the 4k, 'cause you can do anything with it, though it has a huge learning curve! But the sound is fantastic! And the possibilities are endless. And its portable to, if you got a case or bag that is..

Maybe the MPC1000 is more suitable for your needs.

It's definitely worth it!

Got lots of cash? Buy the 4K
Wanna save? Buy the 1K

You'll do alot better beats with any of those than with a computer. really.

The main difference between da 4K and other MPCs is the sampler engine. All other MPCs got a drum/loop sampler. Da 4k's gota full Z8 sampler inside, 24bit, 64voices, multitimbral, multisamples, and a big synth engine with filters, envelopes, lfo's, modulations. Ya can load all kinda libraries from AKAI, EMU, Roland, not only drums/percs/phrases, but any instruments like piano, strings, etc.

Other than dat, da 4k's got a big lcd, more real-time controls (Qlink), phono inputs, hd and cd drives, usb and AKSYS software.
