I think I got it (MPC 60 floppy drive oriented)

I have found a jumper setting on a replacement floppy drive that will work on the MPC 60 with any OS. I used the old floppy from my 2000XL which I replaced a while back with a zip drive. The floppy was a TEAC FD-235HF with the large jumper block on the back. You can find these floppy drives at used computer shops for like $5 or on Ebay but it has to have the large jumper block on the back because the jumper settings are very important. NO MORE PAYING UPWARDS OF $150 FOR A DAMN FLOPPY DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF ANYONE NEEDS THESE SETTINGS HOLLA AT ME!

I emailed a chart to MPC3000 so hopefully it will be up on his site, the funny thing is that I used a friends floppy that he purchased from Forat for $150 about a year ago for my model and guess what.........it was that same TEAC FD-235HF that goes for about $5 at used computer stores so I guess there was $145 worth of labor involved in setting the jumpers LOL

the drive you mentioned is an HD disk drive right? the 60 supposedly has a DD disk drive... imma have to open my 60 up and check the model on the floppy... ill fill you in...

I think the jumpers will determine whether it works or not. I'm not 100% sure but I don't think any replacement drive you buy will be a DD drive because I don't think they still make those. Like I mentioned above the replacement bought at Forat was the same drive in my 2000XL so you know it was a HD drive, the only difference was the jumper settings.

i think youre right djames, im looking at my receipt from VST, and it says in parenthesis where it lists the floppy drive (fdd Fd-235hf-7549)... sounds like EXACTLY what you were talking about to ... imma have to open it up soon and see what it looks like... Dammit, i wish id waited another month before breaking down and going to VST for the floppy, id already waited like a year without a working floppy! if it turns out to be some cheap azz drive that i can find anywhere, im definitely calling VST to talk some chit...

I can just about guarantee that it's the same TEAC drive with the big jumper block in there, but even so they won't care about you talking crazy they gave you exactly what you paid for.......I know it sucks but the best way to get back is to hit them in the pocket book. Buy up as many of those TEAC FD-235HF drives with the big jumper block, set the jumpers accordingly and then sell them for a really low price like $20 or $30 all over E-Bay and also post the diagram for do-it-yourselfers so they can do it for free (or whatever the drive cost). Just imagine how many people will buy one for $120 cheaper! You'll make a killing! Especially now you know what to look for! Damn, I may just have to take my own advice!!!

If I could figure out how to do a screenshot in Window's XP I would post it tonight!

That probably will work but it will probably only work on the older OS the jumper setting I'm talking about that works on 3.10 and the older OS looks a little different.
