SCSI Hard disk question on mpc2000

What kind of Hd I can use ? A 1.2g quantum coud be read? In an external box of course....

That's what I've found on the manual, but the problem Is that where I live the "dealer" is a man how had never hear about saplers in general, figure 'bout mpc....

Is there somebody how can help me? Or i need to buy asmany HD as one would go?

How much must be in size the partition for be read from the mpc classic?

But I'm stupid, so stupid that every search I made gives me 1000-2000 of post 2 read about everything and nothing at all.
and every time somebody tells me to use it I feel more stupid.
So I think that I can learn how to use my mpc only using my stupidity and not this hard to be useful forum.

I'm starting thinking that this forum is a sort of advertisement for the BeatMaking On Mpc2000xl only...

Personnaly I have a quantum 4.5 Gb harddisk connected to my mpc2Kxl with partitions of 512 Mb per partition. Just a question of sticking it in an external housing make sure your set the proper scsi ID (mines set to scsi ID 1) and make sure it is terminated (if it is the only/last drive in the scsi chain). Connect the drive to your MPC (MAKE SURE ALL POWER TO THE MPC AND HARDDISK ARE TURNED OFF WHEN YOU DO THIS) then turn on the harddisk, then turn on the MPC. Now go to the save screen select the scsi id of your harddisk and format the harddisk.

Next time you turn on your MPCalways turn the external drives on first then turn on the MPC that way it can recognise the SCSI devices.

I heard that there is peeps here who have succesfully connected 18Gb SCSI harddisks (IBM). I heard the max size it will recognise are 26 GB disks but I am not sure about that.

Yes I heard all of this too but I have a Mpc2000 CLASSIC so all the post that I've found using the strafottutta search funktion are about XL so my question isn't answered...cause in the Mpc2000 classic the folder are not recognized and I think also the partition can cause some problem but if everybody here can only ignore me or tell me to search I can stop post and start pray God to make me find an answer somelsewhere...

I think, after reading all the post I've found (not only on this forum), that on my MPC2000CLASSIC only a 512Mb Hd with one partition can be used, but i'm not shure and I'll like to know it but if it isn't in the archive nobody knows the answer?

UH, another things that seem a bit strange to me, is the tipe of scsi I can use cause I've found a lot of Hd with 50 pin and also case like that, but the mpc has 25 pin... Is only teorically that an adapter would work, isn't it?

yes an adaptor will do the trick.

And normally you should be fine with the 1.4 gb disk, just make a lot of small partitions instead of folders and it should work fine with the mpc2000.

can you switch between the partitions then? i am using an mpc2000xl. the people using 18gb was that all one partition?

Yes you can switch between the paritions. Think of them as folders although they really aren't.

thanks for the info. can you format a scsi drive using the mpc? will it then be readable if you connected it to a pc.

You HAVE to format it with the MPC if I'm not mistaken. Not sure if a PC can read it after.

so if i got one and hooked it up i would format it the same way i do a zip disk?

how would i get the partitions thing done... i've only ever formatted one zip disk using the mpc and didnt partition it (didnt know you could). must have missed something.

When you go into format under assign or something like that it should have partiition.When you scroll through you can set how many parts you wanna set it to.
