i got some more annoying card reader q's..

i have a 2kxl

1. when erasing data from cards, is it best to do it from the mpc, or my usb to pc card reader?

2. i just got brand new cf cards. do i need particular cf cards for the mpc to be able to read them? or can i use any cards? i have 1 dane cf card that works great. my new cards are lexar.

3.what should be the first thing i do with my cf card when i get it out the package? formatt? if yes, then where? my pc or mpc? if my pc, then do i need to have win xp? or is 2000 ok? do i formatt fat, or fat 32? those are my only 2 options.

4. i cant seem to transfer sounds from a cd or from file folders on my pc, to my new card, and have the mnpc read it. when i do that, the mpc says.. ' drive not ready' and now with my dane card, i try to put new folders on it and the pc lets me, but once i put it in the mpc, it says 'wrong file type'

i'm gettin really mad here, i thought it would be easier to go to card reader over zip... i know this subject has been played out... and i have looked at other posts. but im not sure whats wrong with my shit.....

My 2 cards are Lexar also, 512 and 1gb, Part Number 2250 Rev A.
You should be able to use other cards.

1. If you plan on using that card for transferring samples, fat16 on pc.

2. If ONLY MPC then format it on MPC, if you put this card in the PC and try to write to it you'll cause yourself headaches, keep it MPC ONLY.

Just what it says, wrong file type, check the file type of the samples you are trying to use, 44khz, 16bit, Microsoft PCM wav.

You jumped in the water without knowing. Most people do that. I switched from 250 internal zip to cf reader and had no problems with cards not reading/writing on PC or MPC cause I did my homework.[/quote]

well what do i do with this card i got, its brand new, i tried to formatt it and all that stuff and when i put it in my card reader, it doesnt recognize it. any way to save this card?
i have a card that works perfect on the mpc and pc..

i'll give someone a FREE 128 brand new unopened cf card if they can definately help me fix this shizzz.....pm me if you want... im fukin pissed the fuk off right now and i dont know shiiit bout pc's....

what i did was format the card in the mpc and it works both on my mpc and pc.

If you save longer than 8 character files names on that card in the MPC and take it to PC your PC will now truncate (CUT) those names and end up looking like "123456~1.wav" and your PGM/APS will not recognize those names on auto load.

Like I said, format the card FAT16 on PC, then try and load/save samples on it to/from the pc/mpc.

i'm just telling what I did. i am a network engineer and i know about the file name limits. i'm not telling anyone what to, i just mentioned what worked for me.
