Soundblaster Live

I got a question: Will having a Soundblaster Live sound card make my sounds not sound as good as the original equipment they were produced in?

Like lets say i owned a s900 and an mpc 60 and had all of that 12 bit grime but then I recorded my finished song into my computer where I mixed it in a computer sequencer then burnt it onto a cd.

I'm not a pro, i'm just doing it for my own personal satisfaction.

the pros don't use soundblaster live.

if ur just starting out then sb live is fine.

when u learn more, you'll be able to recognize better soundcards.

Soundblaster live is wack (I've got one WTF is fixed 48khz spdif) ! If your on a budget get the Audiophile 2496

I'm also talking about recording sounds, like say i wanna record stuff outta my akai s900 into my computer sequencer.

Will I lose that S900 sound by recording it into my computer?

YUP!

better to play out the s900 into the mpc, if you have MCD (Cf reader functionality) then edit WAV's via that.

You can ask a million times but you'll never know if it's right for you until you DO IT.

this is exactly what put me off software sampling, not knowing the answers to these questions, naturally you wanna know what will hinder your work before you invest hard time & effort on it

(except i didn't have any hardware at all back then)

Yeah, I would just rather let someone know the cheap sufficient route than tell them or advise a new person to go out and get all this stuff.

Get the smallest, cheapest amount of stuff you can and see if this is what you really want to do. Outgrown what you have and THEN go for the bigger more expensive stuff (pockets permitting you got it like that)

Okay here me out, here's my cheapest option!
My Gear:
1. I have this old record player with phono outputs, it connects to speakers that came with it so i assume there is an amp in the record player.
2. I have an S900 sampler os 1.2. I have fooled around with it a bit but I don't have any DSDD disks so I can't save on it. I'll buy some disks.
3. I have a computer, athlon 2500+, 512 ram, 200gb harddrive.
4. I have a soundblaster live card in my computer.
5. I'll use the free Acid to sequence, Audacity to edit samples.
Here's what I'll buy:
1. An MPD16 midi controller

Think thats good to start? Straight sampling!

ur fine, just do it. u have the gear to do it and you still wanna ask can it be done or will u lose quality. why don't u just do it and find out.

I'm not trying to rag on you but dammit jim, u need to get busy and experiment cause u say u have the gear so go ahead with your plans.

we can sit here and nuture you all you want and you still will have not recorded or tryed out anything.
