I'm a month old mpc2000xl owner...i find that after sampling then accurately
looping my sample, its been 1 of the most frustrating things to plug it into the
sequence at the right tempo with drums already layed down into it . I read all the tip & tricks websites about "making your sequences fit the loop by using the tap tempo button"...but im still having a hard time. Can someone, in lamens terms, explain this S*@t. Good Luukz!!!

i mean there's really no trick. just set the tempo lol. set it higher then you think you need, then keep lowering it until it loops perfectly i guess?

i never use tap tempo cause it never works rite for me. im to the point now where i can guess the tempo and get it close.

are you just not able to find the right tempo or something?

Nah i keep reading about having the seq. fit the loop by using tap tempo, instead of fitting the loop to the seq. ...& just like u, its not working rite.
Im was just tryin to get some feedback on how to do it that way. But thanks

yeah man **** the tap tempo button, some say it works **** that.
just fit a kik -snare pattern twice per bar and adjust the bpm.
If it overlaps or the drums come back too soon lower the bpm.
this is just my way -do you.

also make sure it is trimed right to make it easier.

edit- shit you deaded this shit as i was posting. your quick

Indelible: try changing tap averaging to 4 instead of 2 on the other page(shift+eight) . then tapping along to the sample. i find it a load easier to get the bpm in 4 hits than in 2.

easy way to do it...

go to the timestretch screen and hit bpm, tell it how long your loop is and it will give you a bpm. go to you sequence and try set the bpm to the tempo time stretch gave you. it probably wont be right but it will be within roughly +/- .5 bpm. put you loop starting on the 1 beat of every measure and then let your sequence play and adjust the vpm until it loops properly.

IF that stuff doesn't work for you, I find the tempo (either count it out, or use the Time stretch trick), then just set it up kinda like a one shot (not in loop mode).
Then I just trigger it in the seq. to start on the 1, then it retriggers when the seq. starts over (you just have to have the seq. as long as the sample in Bars and Beats).

Another way is like how Pete Rock did it in that one vid, chopping the sample up and placing it on one or two banks (depending how long it is) then playing them in the seq.
This second method you can get a little funkier than just the regular loop, or you can play it just like the loop was originaly (this add a little flexability to it).

If not the time stretch trick birdbrain suggested should get you there.

yeah, chop it up as much as possible. You'll be able to give it more of your own feel, good luck

birdbrains methods the quickest, and just work up or down if its off, i sometimes do a short kick snare or clap pattern over 2 bars, and keep triggering the sample after clicking play then listening, pressing stop, and making the neccesary tempo changes with the data wheel.
