UK 2500 heads.

where is a good place to get a hard drive from ?? and what do you guys recommend??

I read that some people have fitted 100gig ones, any known issues with these at all?

Anyway, i bought an 80gb 5400rpm Fujitsu drive from a small local computer shop for around £60-70.

For the same price i could have got a 2gb CF card, hmmm. lol

I've had no problems with it so far and touch wood i wont

what was the name of the shop???
make model of the drive???

did you put the akai ram in your mp or did you use ghetto ram

I used Akai ram, picked it up from the ads on soundonsound.com for £50.

I paid £40 for 256mb ram and £40 for a Samsung 40g 5400rpm 8mb cache drive, both from PC World as I couldn't be arsed waiting for an online order. The ram is PNY branded, works fine (the 128mb of it the MPC reads at least).

thanks, i was thinking more of a larger hard drive as i could just bung a bunch of samples that i have collected over the years on it and easily take up 30 - 40 gig of space and have the extra to play about with when recording tracks and resampling them etc.

would be useful to have a definative or add onable list of drive people use to give heads more of an idea instead of these long threads.

Where is the best place to buy the 2500 in the UK? I live in sweden and its very expensive here, and I want to buy it expanded with ram and cdrom atleast which will cost a fortune in sweden.
Its very cheap to fly with ryanair so I might as well pick it up next time I go to the UK.

you can currently get them from turnkey and digital village for 799, i havnt seen anywhere selling them with the upgrades already fitted.

but the akai ram is 99

and the cd drive is 149

all numbers are in uk pounds.

Are you kidding me??? Can you get an mpc2500 for 800 uk pounds??
If I'm calculating correctly, this is one crazy deal! Is this in a online store or regular store?
In sweden I have to pay about 1300 uk pounds (around$2400) for an mpc 2500 without upgrades. And imagine with upgrades...

Now I'll just have to wait until it has all the 2kxl features and i'll make the switch.

That turnkey deal looks kind of tempting... And I'll avoid that soundcontrol store when the day has come to order.
I was just getting comfortable with my 2kxl and didnt really think about switching since it was too expensive, but now it got me thinking... it would suit my workflow better. The 2500 doesnt seem that stable yet though, so i think ill wait for another os update. And I NEED the simultaneous function!

Sound Control is a joke. Haha, look at that amazing saving on the MPC2500. NEARLY 7 POUNDS!!! WOW

soundcontrol wev site is weak, but they do price match instore and do 0% finance options, thank the lord.

But if i had full ammount of cash to lay down i would def go with dv247.
