hi, i'm after a little help or suggestions:

my light in the display of my 2000xl just recently died out, it still displays all the info ok but has no backlight. When using the pads it sometimes flickers on and off making me think it was just a lose connection so i opened her up, i got to the bulb within the display and it looked cool and then re-did all the connections to it... i stupidly plugged it back in half rebuilt to check if it worked and got a huge electric shock but it started working again...

but now it's lost the light again, so has anyone just replaced the bulb or knows where to get one? rather than replacing the whole display? i've looked at http://www.midi-rakete.de/ but they only seem todo the older foil type when the 2000xl has what looks like a tiny fluorescent bulb.

any ideas?

u know you can lower the contrast on the screen right?

have u checked that,?
but you say you opened it .,shoot try to replace it with a bulb from radio shack or fry's with the same wattage. i have only heard the screen go out not a bulb,

thats something to keep in mind. BULB REPLACEMENT

I also had the same thing happen to me. Haven't really done anything about it seeing as it works fine without the backlight. Kind of annoying but still works.
I did ask about it at an electrical repair shop that fixes akai products and they said it shouldnt be hard to fix. Just haven't gotten around to taking it to the shop since i'm such a lazy bastard.

go to your local akai shop dealer and ask the dude in chage if he could give the akai yech supprt for technicians

call them and ask them to tell you the spec's or if they can replace it ?

just in case anyone else ever has this problem the guy's at www.midi-rakete.de seemed to think they stock a replacement bulb rather than paying for replacing the whiole display. ended up with me that the problem was actully deeper and shes now in the shop!
