Copying a single track to another sequence???

Hi there.

This is the scenario. Say i record drums on sequence 1 track 1 , a bassline on sequence 1 track 2 and a hihat-pattern on sequence 1 track 3. Then, I record a new bassline, and some other drums on sequence two, tracks 1 and 2 respectively. Now, I want to copy the hihat-pattern from sequence 1 track 3 to sequence 2 track 3, without loosing what I recorded on tracks 1 and 2.

This should be a basic operation, but I can't fugure out how to do it. I can copy a sequence to another sequence, and a track to another track within the same sequence, but not tracks between sequences. How do you do it???

Have you downloaded the MPC Paramter Map?

It says...

SEQ EDIT mode
Accessible by pressing [MODE] + [PAD 10] (SEQ EDIT). The following parameters can be selected by scrolling the parameter directly.

Copy events
Allows the copying of events from one track to another, and one sequence to another

From
Selects the Sequence (S) and track (T) to be copied from.

To
Selects the Sequence (S) and track (T) to be copied to.


...so can't you tell it to copy from one sequence/track to another sequence track?

I have not tried it myself, but it seems that it should be possible from the Parameter Map.

You can also copy just certain pads/sounds out of a track to a new track to to merge with another track. You can use this to seperate out sounds, like maybe kick or snare, when they are all on the one track.

Ah, of course, seq edit mode. I was trying it using the "params" button from the track page. There you can also copy tracks, but only within the same sequence it seems. I just KNEW it was a rtfm problem... =)

Copying a Track from one Sequence to another is possible in the Events part of the Seq Edit Mode.

This is probably old news but that MPC Parameter Sheet should be stickied(if not already)for newbies like myself.That chart is the holy grail as far as I`m concerned.It prevents asking some silly questions.I plan on cutting out each section and make index cards and pin them around the 500 for quick refrence until I can take the training wheels off.Hip hop tools dot com has the chart for those interested.
