Chopping

Sup peeps, I gotta quick ?, ok when I chop on the MPC and set my "ZONES" up, how do I get the sounds from the separate zones onto the pads? Ive read pg. 103 in the manual and my brain is still blank. Thanxxx yall...peace

hit edit in the zone screen and then slice sample should come up. Set the Margin to 35-40 (to be safe) and click do it. it will create a new program with your chops named after the sample you chopped on bank A

That SUCKS eh, why doesnt it delete the original sample THEN make the slices? You're always gonna save the old sample before you chop it up - not very conservative of the MPC.... Dont worry, i'm gettin mah sticks soon too

Here is how you do it, after you have chopped up the sample, let's call it "piano". After you chop it up into the zones, and you hit "edit" do not have it make a new prog. I've tried that before, and it just wipes out my sounds that are already programmed on the pads, so tell it not to, and basically all you have to do is just assign the chopped sounds to the pads you want.

Say you chopped it into 4 zones. If that original sample was called "Piano" the following 4 chopped up sounds will be called "Piano01, Piano02, Piano03, and Piano04" You get the idea.

In the main screen go to>Shift>Program.
Then hit the pad you want to start placing the sounds on. GO down to "Note" and then use the cursor to go over to the name of the sound, and scroll all the way to the end since those newly chopped sounds will be at the end.

Easy as pie...

Is there any way to send a program to a different sound bank then A?

and what exactly is the "margin" feature?

or is this only for the XL?
