What up? Yo... I just bought the VST multi card reader. I nstalled it, everything works great... I also bought a second card, it is the same brand as the one that came with the VST multi, but its a 2 GB. when I try 2 save 2 it, comes up (read error) or some sh!t. I tried formatting, didn't work. Is the 2 GB too much? The 1 GB works fine. What can I do? Please help me out if you can, or show me a topic on this matter. I'm using a 2KXL, Late..... Haz

Are you on v 120os, and the 1gb works fine?

Partition the 2gb, make it 2 x 1gb partitions...

You can partition on the mpc.....It's in the 2kxl manual. pg. 155. Change your device to "ATAPI" when using mcd drive....

Yeah... I re-read that part of the manual.
problem is when the Device: ATAPI is selected
there is no Partition Size: only when Device: SCSI is selected does it show the Partition Size:

also I formatted the card on both my PC and MPC (one at a time) still come up with the read error

When I checked the properties of the 2GB card on my PC it only comes up with .99 GB of total space. not much more than the 1GB card which has like .95 GB of total space

Is My card fuct? Or am I doing something wrong?

Partition the card on computer. Make 2 x 1gb partitions.

Format this card using fat16.

Use ONLY 8 character filenames on this card.
ie: 12345678.123, drumkick.wav (8.3 filename).

This card can be used to/fm computer to mpc directly.

Thanx 4 tha "computer for dummies" instructions :D

But I'm still having troubles..... I was able 2 format the 1GB sec, and it now works in the MPC.

But there is memory that is unallocated, and no option for a new partition :?:

sorry bout tha previous pics...... I got you

The disk is completely empty but as you can see not exactly 2GB... so obviously I can't make 2 (1GB) partitions... Right?

How do I get to be able to use the unallocated?

These are my options when I right click on the 1GB sec, or the drive list

just use it as 1gb and call it a day. but you should be able to format 2 equal partitions no matter how big it is

Yo... I got a 1GB card, and this 2GB card (which I can use 1GB off it)
Don't think I should just say "forget the rest of the memory" if I can use it

The 1gb is formatted in fat/fat16, fine.

Right click on the black unallocated space, partition, format fat/fat16.

If I right click... I only get "properties and help" options... The "new partition" isn't highlighted and won't allow me 2 select it
